John192 I was surprised to read your point about Fibreglass being used in 1949, I had no idea it started so early. First time I even saw a fibreglass car was about 1957 when the VW powered ASCORT was on display in Martin Place Sydney. It was received quite well but not well enough to be multi-produced. As shown from a Modern Motor Magazine comment below: . "The Ascort, the Buckle and the Record were the highlights of the show” and “All three cars are a credit to their designers and manufacturers" Mirek (designer) felt that the Ascort just had to be a commercial success.
