Manumatic was available on Armstrong-Siddeley as DrJohn describes and also on the 1500cc BMC cars of around 1957-58 such as the Austin A55 Cambridge, Morris Oxford Series III, MG ZB Magnette and Wolseley 15/50. Apparently they did give trouble and most cars were converted to manual transmission. I read somewhere that there is one survivor, a Morris Oxford that no-one is game to drive for fear of breaking it! The later 1622cc Farina cars had the option of the fully automatic Borg-Warner 35 box, which was also an option from 1962 for the Austin Freeway and Wolseley 24/80. I believe most of the later Mark II 24/80s were automatic. For further information I would hand over to Deltic on this forum who does have a good working knowledge about automatics.
