My Dad carried Ford cars interstate from about 1950. Attached is a photo of Dad parked on the Hume Highway at Broadmeadows Victoria for a Ford PR photo shoot. They were using the photo as part of the announcement that Ford intended to build a new plant there to manufacture an Australian family car for the future (The Falcon). The F600 he is driving was state of the art in luxury for the time with blinkers (as well as a mechanical arm to indicate at corners), a push button radio, fog lights, and even a rear vision mirror on both sides! The Customlines were great to sleep in as they had huge bench seats when you went to Melb with Dad on school holidays.
