More minor tasks. I placed into position the front suspension upper front rubber bump stops. I should have inserted them during the suspension assembly. Using a bit of soap as a lube, I put them in place and then raised the chassis with my trusty engine hoist. This caused the wheel to hang down, compressing the bump stop into place. The next item was to belatedly bolt the lower mount of the front shock absorbers into place. This was challenging as the gas filled units naturally expand away from the mount. It is difficult to push that into place while screwing in the bolts whilst lying on my back under the suspension. On one side the fifty year old threads had enough so I have used bolts with nuts. The panel shop owner said that he should be ready for the body soon. I am looking forward to that phase of the build. In the meantime I am reconsidering the interior colour choice. Coincidentally, a friend of mine had a Monaro in the same Chrome Yellow paint and his factory interior echoed my latest thoughts. He said that his car had the same Chestnut brown interior as my ute originally had. My car was all brown, top and bottom. His had black floor carpet and black carpet on the lower doors. His steering column and wheel were black. I was thinking the same but with a light coloured roof and a black upper dash board(the pad). For the bench seat, I was thinking of having the new cover trimmed with the same subtle optional cloth inserts as the factory used. The attacked photos will give an idea.
