My favourite cop cars were the 351 cid XD and XE Falcon 'Interceptors' that roamed our highways in the late 1970s and early '80s. Those were the early years of driving for me, so just the sight of one of those low slung 5.8 litre Fords with all the lights, sirens and throbbing exhausts would send a shiver down my spine. The cops had real respect in those days and few would try to outrun one of those V8 Fords. They were seriously fast, with some tweaked for 140 mph (220 km/h) plus performance.
