I will never forget the ambulances that would occasionally take to the Mount Panorama circuit during the Bathurst 500/1000 race, in the days before we had Safety Car periods. This photo of a huge Chevrolet Impala-based ambo is a favourite of mine from the 1960s and a twist on Bentley's title: A land of sweeping plains - and even larger ambulances!
