I know this is good news. However, I believe the government could have gone a big step further by reducing the duty on these imports. Currently they are slugged an enormous amount. It's not just the importation costs (many of the costs are outrageous) but the duty. I am in the process of importation of a classic and the duty will be over 10%. Ouch! If , as Shannons says, the importation of classics supports a huge industry in Australia, why doesn't the government make greater concessions so that these smaller businesses can offer jobs to apprentices and the like?
