I still rank the original 'Mad Max' movie made in 1979 as the definitive Aussie car movie. Made with a budget that was miniscule by Hollywood standards, I'll never forget the first time I saw it (had an 18+ rating but I snuck in at 16). On the big screen, it was so raw, violent and confronting, yet intoxicating for a car fan with its assortment of hot V8 Aussie muscle cars being driven by lunatics with great skills.
