The Orbital engine fizzed out but Orbital Engineering went on to develop a direct injection system using air pressure for use in two and four strokes. Mercury still use it in their Optimax range. To quote Mercury “ As with all Mercury OptiMax engines, the 150 utilises the Orbital Engine Corporation of WA dual-stage OCP (Orbital Combustion Process) direct-injection with stratified and homogenous modes”. Years ago I had a drive in one of their evaluation fleet Fords fitted with a 1200cc three cylinder two stroke engine. It had a lot of torque and was very flexible and smooth. Now orbital perform a wide variety of engineering work. https://www.orbitalengr.com/
