In the early seventies, I used to go to a very large track in St.Kilda which is now a McDonalds. I only had the one car, the Pink Panther vehicle. I decided that it was not fast enough, so I built a small hovercraft slot car for a bet with the owners of the track. It had two motors and was made out of balsa wood. One motor was a lift motor and the second motor was on the back with a prop. I ended up having to put a second pickup and guide pin on the back for the drive motor as it would slide down the track on the banked curves. Yes .. it was fast, very fast ...
