Apologies PonyRider, I forgot about your previous post. Don't know about the size of the UK plates ( much larger than ours ), but the attachment explains the numbering system for new plates. Was always a mystery to me until I found it. https://www.clickmechanic.com/blog/how-d...
I was intrigued by the Irish number plates while I was there but had my mate explain them. Evidently, you cannot get personalised plates, the plate always stays with the car. The year of first rego - 241 would be the first half 2024. That is since 2013, up to 2012 it was only two numbers eg 12, but as my mate put it, they are a superstitious mob and wouldn’t put 13 on the plates, so they got the 3 digits from 2013 - 131 or 132. Initial of the County - D for Dublin. Then the sequencial number of registration. Above the number area is a italicised name of the County in Irish. Baile Átha Cliath is Dublin. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_the_Republic_of_Ireland Pic on a Peugeot based Opel.
