Defiantly a good era! The build quality and technology of the late 80 early 90 Japanese cars were superior then what we could get locally. My first Japanese car was a 1992 Subaru Liberty RS Turbo, compared to a Holden Commodore VN -VP it had a load more technology and refinement. However cars like the Datsun 1200 ute and Subaru Brumby found a hole in the market for a small affordable ute and was a success in Australia. Both these models still have a strong following today.
