In the days before mag wheels became commonplace hub caps were used by custom car builders to enhance vehicle appearance. The Cadillac sombrero cap was a favourite and spun aluminium Moon discs were also popular. Various custom hub caps were also available commonly covering the entire wheel rather than just the nuts.
