Amateur Hour, East German style. Part of BMW found themselves on the other side of the Iron Curtain, but those in charge started to produce the old pre-war 326. BMW in Western Germany objected to the comrades using their name, so a name change occurred - EMW after the area where they made, Eisenach. Along with this came a complete facelift, with a horizontal motif replacing the kidneys. I managed to capture an EMW 340-2 in a photo, mixing it with the Trabants in East Berlin. EMW then had a go at a complete restyle with the last two, but these prototypes, the EMW 342-2 and 343 were wisely dropped, as it probably made sense to import Volgas from Mother Russia for the exclusive use of the STASI.
