I hope I'm not spoiling your subject thread, Joe, by throwing in this curveball of a Japanese car; as you mentioned, it wasn't long into the 1960s and Australia was actually manufacturing Japanese cars, Australian Motor Industries (AMI) having secured a franchise agreement with Toyota in 1963. Anyway, I thought I'd look at the rare reverse situation whereby Japan assembled an Australian car ... I figure the forum readers will instantly recognise the origins of the 13B rotary powered 1975-77 Mazda Roadpacer executive sedan, these two images being genuine Mazda publicity prints of the original 1975 version ...
