Totally agree Mark, what a history and all extraordinary in their own way. The HQ was a stunning design and I loved it, but the HK GTS was an absolute revolution to a 18 year olds eyes...and ears. The yellow 307 GTS that arrived in our street was a sight never forgotten and the noise from that thing was just fabulous. Even the 186S was desirable. I was never really taken with the Valiant 2 door with its long rear and the VH Valiant 2 door wasn't my cup of tea but the Charger sure was.
Agreed Silvercloud. A yellow HK Monaro GTS is part of Australian automotive folklore, thanks largely to that iconic photo of a model in a skin-tight suit. "Out to drive you wild" indeed! The Charger also benefitted from one of the best new car advertising campaigns of all time. It looked so good, though, I reckon it still would have been a huge sales success without everyone yelling "Hey Charger!" That chunky, purposeful styling was just irresistible.
