Mercury followed up with the S-33 Meteor and S-55 Monterey for 1962. It's interesting that Mercury had to explain how the Meteor fitted into their line-up, something Ford didn't have to do with the Fairlane. This is probably because Mercury dropped the Park Lane and Montclair lines for 1961 and alongside the Monterey, the Meteor 600 and 800 lines were aimed at a lower price class.
