A world away from LED Trickery........ In 1933 Morris had a go at making roads safer by developing a Flashing Direction Indicator so that oncoming and following motorists might have an idea of what you're about to do. As if the explanations in their brochure isn't hard enough to understand, imagine coping with not much in the way of synchromesh, indifferent steering and brakes, along with misty, foggy and generally damp British driving conditions. Pulling plungers in and out and turning switches left or right would try anyone's patience. Buick had a slightly better idea in 1939 with flashing name emblems in the centre of the bootlid, but from a distance it may have been difficult to work out which side was flashing. There were no front indicators.
