Austin's boss in the '40s, Len Lord, wanted something like the winged B that was on his Bentley, so his minions came up with the Flying A which appeared on millions of them. Not content with one on his prized A90 Atlantic creation, they put two of them on the front. They must have been lethal to pedestrians, and I have heard of an Austin A95 Westminster doing a lot of damage to the belly of a horse.
