Yes, a great driver and such a character. Moffat called JF the 'court jester' when he drove for the Ford works team on occasions. His stand-out drive for me, though, was his masterful 500-mile solo effort in finishing second to Brock at Bathurst in 1972, in a dealer-entered Phase Three GT-HO. If not for a puncture early in the race which cost him crucial time (see left front tyre below), he could well have won. Bryan Byrt's Wild Violet Phase Three was a mighty fast car too, clocking the highest speed down Conrod Straight that year of 154mph (almost 250km/h). Thanks for the memories Frenchy. RIP.
