Thanks 66FBK. You make a valid point about the AU's styling being similar to European styling at the time. The AU's sloping tail lights and rear panels attracted harsh criticism, yet the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class of the same era featured a tail-end treatment similar to the Falcon's but escaped the same scrutiny. I always found that strange but I guess the different badges had a lot to do with such judgements.
