I don't remember the first car I drove with power steer, probably a Vanden Plas Princess 4 Litre R, but one car that needed it was the Austin 1800. When my mum had the car I have now, she loved it, but always said it was hard to park. The Wolseley 18/85 version of the Land Crab featured it as standard from 1967 in the UK. I drove enough of them to realise its benefits. It's pretty cramped under the bonnet of any 'Crab, even more so under the Wolseley's. Deltic may be able to enlighten us further with his experiences.
