If they want Supercars to be market relevant, they should have adopted a proposal put forward many years ago by Craig Denyer/Bill West as a replacement for their Falcon vs Commodore ute category when local production ceased. It was also based on control space-frame V8 chassis, but they could be clad in the bodywork of any ute and the design proposals for the most popular models like HiLux, Ranger, Colorado (RIP), Navara etc looked great. Sort of like our Group C tourers in the 1980s; low to the ground, fat rubber, big flares and spoilers, barking exhausts etc. It would have reflected today's Aussie car market far more accurately than Mustangs and Camaros, given the rise and rise of ute sales in this country.
