Pour it on the "poor" ol' HD, but I for one have a soft spot for them, in my opinion the HD was Holden's first real saleable sports sedan road car off the showroom floor ! I know, I know the majority out there will say the S4 EH was, but good luck in picking one with a quick visual, they were minor points that actually literally have to be pointed out to you, otherwise just another EH, don't get me wrong here, I love all pre "79 Holden's ! The HD came with a modified camshaft, "twin carbs" with a neat X2 adorned air cleaner, you can laugh at them now" but back then "cool'"'a neat set of headers, actually they were that good they were reused on far later Holdens, a sports cluster gauge in the dash, temp, amps , oil, fuel, the option of a disc brake front end , the super neat 'X2" badging, yep Australia was on the dawn of performance with that car !! Again I realise it was a terrible handler and yes at Bathurst it didn't deliver the goods, but you have to start somewhere and to me visually from the showroom floor with it's cool add on "performance" gear, it was the start of something big !
