I have owned many Datsun 1600s over the years and I must say they are a great platform for motorsport. I raced them from 1984 through to 1998. The 2 cars pictured were the ones that I had the most success with. A 72 model which I used to win 3 Club Championships in 91,92 & 93 (LCC of WA) and many trophies in Club Motorsport. I then built a new 1969 model car to compete in Rallin which I picked up from a car yard for $400. After a 8 month ground up preporation I then used it for 4 years of competition. The new car competed in numerous Club, State and even 2 ARC rounds. But its best success was winning the 1996 SA Pedders Cup Rallly series outright with 3 wins and a 5th. Both cars were fitted with the same 1800 SSS engine with twin webbers. The best thing about these cars was the reliablity and how easy they were to drive... I loved them.
