Towards the end of the Silver Cloud III's production run, Rolls-Royce thought they would try and appeal to a younger market. They asked Tony Brooks, a well-known Grand Prix driver, having driven for Frazer-Nash, Aston Martin, Connaught, BRM, Vanwall, Maserati and Ferrari. He won the 1955 Syracuse GP in a Connaught. He took a Cloud III to Goodwood and threw it around the track. He found the steering a bit low-geared for the chicane, but was sufficiently impressed to find the two ton car performed well in acceleration, braking and cornering tests. He then did a bit of very high cruising to the south of France where he tackled some of the hairpin bits - the sight of a Roller coming up and down the Col de Braus at speed would have been something else. Just thought people might enjoy seeing pics of a Roller being flung around a circuit, which isn't very day.
