I've always thought that Holden's first model in the series was better than the facelift. I much prefer the 48/215 to the FJ and when it comes to the FE/FC, I reckon there was just too much chrome splashed about. It's interesting that GMH altered the two-toning twice during the life of the FC Special sedan which only ran for about 18 months. The first had the top colour over the roof, rear sides and right down to the rear bumper; the second go reduced the second colour somewhat and the third attempt was just the rear side flash - pre-empting the FB. However I prefer the EH over the EJ - I think the tail-lift was needed, particularly the wagon and the grille set it all off. The HD was always cleaner than the HR, particularly from the rear, where the HR's tail-lights looked like add-ons.
