I reckon Sydney grandmother Blanche Brown was the star of this era, BentleyT. She entered her 3.0 tonne 1927 Rolls Royce in several of these events and in the 1957 Ampol Aroud Australia finished a stunning fifth outright! He son Vince did most of the competitive driving, but she also did her fair share of the wheel work. It was an amazing achievement for a then-30 year old car and its grandma owner in such a brutal event. I wonder where that car is today?
