Great story John, memories to hand down to the grandkids too. Coincidentally, with wwII my Dad was in the RAAF, got to Fighter Pilot status in training, but never saw any action because the war ended !. History with him has to include his motorcycle racing in the 40's. Photos provided of his RAAF days and the A.J.S Motorbike he raced. My Grandfather was Lance Corporal in Infantry, and was offered promotion to Sergeant but declined it so he could remain with his enlisted mates !
