A strong showing at Mount Panorama provided significant impetus driving innovation during the Australian muscle car era. Much of this innovation had a direct benefit to ordinary motorists in terms of safety such as improved braking and suspension geometry. However things such as giant fuel tanks which found their way into the back of GT Falcons, Monaros, Toranas and Chryslers were aimed specifically at one weekend at Bathurst.
