Way back on 8 September 1960 Mickey Thompson set a new land speed record at Bonneville of 406mph in his home-built Challenger 1 - powered by 4 supercharged Pontiac V8s - one for each wheel. No aircon though. I once built a plastic model kit of it - took weeks !!
