I've got a copy of the 1979 Melbourne International Motor Show program, and the only mention of the RS2000 is the specifications along with the other Escorts. It wasn't covered in the section of new for 1979 models - no Ford in there. There is only one ad for any Ford product - a full colour for the TE Cortina. The Melbourne show was on earlier in the year, March, from memory. The program doesn't have the dates or even the times they open and shut.
