The Porsche taking up space in my garage is a 1986 911 Carrera. I would certainly not classify myself as a Porsche enthusiast or particular expert on the marque. However as a sports car enthusiast life was somehow incomplete without the experience of a classic 911. Incomplete in the sense that the 911 is iconic, unlike any other sporting car. As fine as a contemporary water cooled Porsche with the engine up front may be; for me owning one would not have fulfilled the Porsche experience.
