1955 provided a startling contrast between the latest FJ Holden most Aussies were driving and Citroen's jaw-dropping DS launched in Europe that year. In a 1955 context the DS would have seemed like a spaceship from another planet, not only with its aerodynamic styling but also its highly advanced mechanicals which included front wheel drive, inboard discs, hydropneumatic suspension plus brake and steering assistance, rack and pinion steering etc. AND THIS WAS IN 1955!
