The Mark 1 Cortina had an astounding boot on a car for its size. These images come from a Ford Sales book comparing it with its competition - the HA Vauxhall Viva, VW Beetle and Morris 1100. Cortina had 21 cubic feet, Viva 19, 1100 'a tiny 9.5' and VW 'less than half the Cortina' according to Ford. The VW had just introduced a fold down back seat to give extra space. Ford asked whether luggage was more important than passengers, whereas the Cortina could take 5 passengers AND their luggage. Didn't harm sales of either the VW or the 1100.....
