As for my own earliest personal television car experience, my mother would back me 100% if I nominated the Ford Mustang used in Australia's big budget television series that followed on from 'Homicide' and lead into 'Division 4' ... I'm talking of 'Hunter' that ran for two short years in 1967/68, starring the late Tony Ward in the headline role of John Hunter and bad guy (turned good guy) Gerard Kennedy. Because Hunter was an adult show, my mum would only initially allow me to watch the opening credits so that I could see Hunter touring the streets in his Mustang ... the car's Victorian rego of JOH 999 may have had some direct reference to the Nine Network, the car being one of the few RHD cars marketed by Ford Australia in those times.
