I've only had one black car - a 100E Ford Anglia bought in London for £25 in 1970. I bought it in November and with the short days in England in winter, hardly ever saw it in daylight. People used to drive around in the gloom only with their sidelights on, so I had a real fear of not being seen. Reflective number plates were the first step. I got the bottom painted white, and before we took it to Turkey and other warm countries, the roof got the same treatment. The result looked like a liquorice allsort, but it worked. Well, no-one hit us and we kidded ourselves that it couldn't be 40 degrees inside the car in Greece.
