In my younger years I had a gaggle of fast 4s like Mk11 Cooper S, a few Fiat 124 sports and whilst travelling in my job I met a work mate for the first time who threw me his keys to his bright yellow XB GT 351 manual to make a trip back into town. That was it for me. I remember making the comment about fuel and he said. "fuel was the cheapest thing he had to put in the car" I later realised that very little broke or wore out as it was never stressed on the highway. I then bought a VB SLE 5lt. Great car to eat up highway miles. They my XP coupe which I latter fitted a nice 5Lt roller Windsor and still sits in my garage. Then an EL XR8 5Lt manual as my driver. Great sure footed car. Then my 66 Mustang fastback which has a 5lt roller Windsor. With 3 x 302 Windsors in the family I used to buy Z9 oil filters in bulk. Sold the XR8 and now have a 2017 VFII Commodore SS Sports wagon as the every day driver. The last of the big bangers and a great car with the LS3 6.3Lt. You can driver it like gram pa but if you ask the question all hell breaks loose. I love them and if anyone comments about fuel consumption I say, if you work out the price per hour to run a V8 it is still cheaper than an amusement park ticket.
