Great memories indeed SY. I always watched the Castrol Six Hour because for bikes I saw it as the closest thing to the annual Bathurst 500 when the race was run for stock standard road cars produced in 'series production' up until 1973. So, this was effectively stock standard 'series production' racing but on two wheels. Amaroo was also like a mini-Bathurst with its sharp changes in elevation and a real challenge for riders, particularly when it rained! I was enthralled by Honda's new six-cylinder CBX 1000 on release and so thrilled to see one leading the 1978 event handsomely (below) until it had to pit late in the race for a new rear tyre (the team miscalculated the wear rate given its weight and power) and dropped to third at the flag.
