Thanks JB for reviving many fond memories I have of the Group A era. Although you achieved all of your Group A success in turbocharged cars, this engine technology also ensured the demise of the category when the FIA lost its grip on the equivalency factor between turbo and non-turbo engines. Think back to the first Group A Bathurst 1000 in 1985 (below), before the turbo genie escaped from its bottle and wreaked havoc. We had V12 Jaguars, V8 Commodores/Mustangs and six cylinder BMWs competitive with turbocharged Volvos. Such a great mix of makes and models with big factory support. It could have been so good for so much longer if they’d just kept a lid on the turbos!
