I was among the many to criticise the reborn VW Beetle with it's FWD and Front Engine being so far removed from the original beloved 'Dak Dak' Beetle, but after having spoken to a couple of owners I found them hasten to sing praises because the so-called 'retro' is quite a brisk performer, especially when the Engine is similar specs to VW Golf GT-i." So I have resigned myself to think of the 'Retro' Beetle and Retro Mini as totally different cars to the original, then it works for me. The EV Mini for example, is a whole new breed ! Quoted as : "Fresh from the UK is the electric Mini, blending a sporty retro groove with progressive EV engineering courtesy of the BMW i3" Can't get much further away from the original Mini than that eh ?
