That Citroen is truly an automotive tardis if it can accommodate all that luggage! I have had a couple of early 60s Chevys and Pontiacs which impressed with their cavernous boots and capacity to swallow luggage. But this is hardly surprising given their ample exterior dimensions. Fords of the era were also similarly accommodating. I imagine that the provision of "fitted luggage" by up market European manufacturers served to optimise luggage capacity as well as owner prestige upon arrival at the Paris Ritz.
