The houndstooth cloth will help break up the darkness along with a light coloured roof lining. That is also the reason that I went with the silver fish-scale instrument fascia rather than the usual grey/black. Too much black can be overbearing. With the bench, personally I’d try and incorporate a folding armrest (cup holders?) in the middle piece. Below is the colour of our TA 1300 (2door). Looked just like this one. We thought it was mustard, and hence my preference for Chrome Yellow!
