Sometimes old cars can surprise you. I finally steeled myself to pull the steering box, figuring all the ball joints would also be toast. Boy was I wrong. The steering box isn’t really leaking, it’s just weeping very slightly, certainly not bad enough to warrant pulling it out. There is virtually no movement at the hubs, all the ball joints look fine. I will give it a clean and leave it all alone. A set of new tyres is all the little Ute needs before I take it for its blue slip.
