I consider myself very fortunate after reading what you guys have experienced in mechanical failure. The worst I had was dropping a piston in a TE Cortina 4.1 motor, which I had to have re-built with a 60 thou overbore & bigger pistons. A broken half shaft axle on a Triumph, and a sudden 'ejecting' of a welsh plug in another car. I must be very lucky to not have worse considering the punishment administered to the motors in some of my cars in the past. .............Even when I totally wrote off my XY Fairmont Wagon in a massive prang (photos below) the 302 Cleveland V8 was still a runner !
