Here is Carlo building a mudguard on a new Ferrari in the Vignale factory. Some new bodies may have ten Panel Beaters working on the one car, all doing their assigned job . The bodies seem to be made up of numerous small patches all welded together and hand beaten. As an old PB I always wonder how they got a ripple free finished product. In Australia plastic filler came into being around 1960, I think the Italians had it in the 1950s.
