Today is a sad day for the literal beggining of the end of cars made in our own country. I was driving in my Fairmont Ghia this morning heard the news of today's plant closure and shook my head in a mix of disgust and sadness. While not as sickening as watching ABC news on the night of August 28 1981 when the last Valiant rolled down line at Tonsley Park( i couldn't eat dinner that night) it still isn't easy to take even with 3 years warning. My favourite model is the XW for many reasons but today i'll put it down to being the first Falcon that started to look a lot less like any American Falcon just at the time when Ford America stopped making them there.
