You're right Dr John, the longer wheelbase on the 403 wagon was well ahead of the HQ Holden - in fact the 203's commercials were also 7 1/2 inches or 19 cms longer than the sedan's. These two pics are from a little brochure done in 1950 by Harden & Johnston, the NSW distributors at the time. Love the way the French made a ute by simply cutting the back of the sedan behind the front doors. They never let a stylist get in the way!
