As with my favourite Oldsmobile, the 1959-60 Buicks were sensational. However, when I was in the States in the mid to late '90s, the sight of a 1993-97 Roadmaster tooling down some of the mid-Western roads was unforgettable. In those states, Toyota and Nissan belonged to a different world and you were seen as unpatriotic if you drove a Corolla. These Roadmasters (in sedan form only - the wagon looked too much like a Chevy Caprice) and equivalent Cadillacs made no apology for their size and appearance - the last of the big Americans and now a lost world.
