Surprisingly the bore was completely score free - there is a tiny ding in the bore of #6 near the bottom which removed almost completely with a hone. The combustion area looked untidy but it was mostly cosmetic. I guess it helps that the blocks are cast iron - the cylinder head was pretty bad on that cylinder and I should probably have replaced it, but a dremel smoothed out most of the mess and all the valves were replaced whether they were bent like #6 or not. The one thing I thought would cause me the most trouble was an obvious ding in the inlet valve seat - that valve was bent the worst and it looks like something got caught between the seat and the valve, but while it looked bad, again it was more a cosmetic shiny spot than anything else. When I lapped the valves, that one cleaned up as well although you could still see the faint marks either side of where the lapping paste worked it's magic. Compression on that cylinder is identical to the others. I am sure if I took it to a machine shop they would likely have junked the head given the impact damage, but it's been 100% so far. I am expecting it to carbon up in a weird way given that it still looks a bit like the surface of the moon, but for now it's not causing a problem.
